In the tie-in book The Missing DoSAC Files he is shown to have an unusual relationship with Malcolm Tucker, who despite being one of his greatest political enemies is also something of a friend to him and his children.

Richards works as the Chief Election Strategist for the Conservative Party, attempting to place them and their leader JB in power. His unpleasant demeanour has both garnered him the nickname "The Fucker" and a reputation that inspires a level of fear potentially even beyond that of Malcolm's.
